This is Mixsoon at its most literal: the Galactomyces Ferment Essence has a two-line ingredient list - galactomyces ferment filtrate and butylene glycol - and nothing else. No water added as a filler, no fragrance, no alcohol, no essential oil. Galactomyces ferment filtrate is the yeast ferment better known to consumers by the trade name Pitera, a by-product of sake brewing rich in amino acids, vitamins, minerals and organic acids, and Mixsoon's pitch is simply to hand it over undiluted rather than build a routine around it. The 100ml bottle is the everyday size; a 30ml travel or trial size exists separately.

Key Benefits

  • Galactomyces ferment filtrate is the entire active - ingredient databases record the formula as roughly 60% ferment filtrate to 40% butylene glycol, which is an exceptionally high ferment load for the category
  • The ferment supplies amino acids, B vitamins, minerals and organic acids, the combination associated with improved hydration, a smoother surface and a healthier-looking glow
  • Reported benefits for the ingredient class centre on skin barrier support, antioxidant activity and a more even-looking tone over time
  • Two ingredients means almost nothing to react to: no fragrance, no essential oil, no alcohol, no colourant and no preservative-heavy base - a strong sensitive-skin story for retail
  • Butylene glycol, the only other ingredient, is both the solvent that keeps the ferment stable and a humectant in its own right, giving the essence its thin, watery, fast-absorbing feel
  • Lightweight and non-occlusive, so it layers under any serum or cream and works in humid Gulf climates where richer essences feel heavy
  • Vegan-positioned and a natural first step in Mixsoon's essence-layering approach to Korean skincare

When to Use

Morning and evening, straight after cleansing and toner and before serums, ampoules and moisturiser - it is designed as the first watery layer on clean skin, the traditional position for a Korean ferment essence. It is the right choice for dullness, dehydration, rough texture, uneven tone and skin that simply looks tired, and it is gentle enough for daily use on sensitive and barrier-compromised skin because it contains no exfoliating acid or retinoid. It also works well as a hydrating layer over the top of an active routine on the nights when retinol or an AHA has left skin feeling stripped.

How to Use

  • Cleanse and apply toner so the skin is still slightly damp.
  • Dispense a few drops into the palm or onto a cotton pad.
  • Press it over the whole face with the hands, or sweep it on with the pad, then pat gently until it has fully absorbed.
  • For dehydrated skin, repeat with a second thin layer while the first is still tacky.
  • Follow with serum, then moisturiser, and with broad-spectrum SPF in the morning.
  • Twice daily. 100ml bottle.

Key Ingredients

  • Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate - the fermented yeast filtrate (widely known as Pitera) that makes up the bulk of the formula; a humectant and conditioning agent carrying amino acids, vitamins, minerals and organic acids, used in Korean skincare for hydration, glow and barrier support
  • Butylene Glycol - humectant and solvent; holds water in the skin and keeps the ferment stable and spreadable

Precautions

There is no acid, retinoid or vitamin C in this essence, so it carries no added sun-sensitivity risk - normal daily broad-spectrum SPF is all that is needed. The genuine caution with galactomyces is different: fermented yeast filtrates are a known trigger for a minority of users with fungal acne (Malassezia folliculitis) or a yeast sensitivity, who may see small bumps or itching, so patch-test on the inner forearm for 24-48 hours and watch the first week of use. Apply to intact skin only and keep it out of the eyes. Because the formula is essentially two ingredients with a minimal preservative system, treat it like a fresh product: keep the bottle closed, store it away from direct sunlight and heat - not on a sunny bathroom shelf or in a car in Gulf summer - and use it within the stated period after opening. Discard it if the colour darkens noticeably or the smell changes. Discontinue use if redness, stinging or itching develops, and see a dermatologist if it persists.
