CP-1 Matte Finish Styling Powder
Box Details:
Quantity Per Box: 192
A 6g shaker of loose white powder that solves one problem very quickly: hair that sits flat against the scalp and has nothing for a comb or a hand to grip. Tapped onto dry roots it works mechanically — Silica and Silica Dimethyl Silylate are high-surface-area particles that wedge between strands, absorb surface oil and increase friction, so the hair stands away from the scalp and holds a shape. Mica, Titanium Dioxide and Methicone kill the shine, which is the whole point of a matte finish product: the lift reads as thicker hair rather than as product. Nine ingredients, no water, no alcohol, no hold resin to flake, and at 6g it is light enough to be an impulse add-on at the till and to ship cheaply in mixed cartons.
Key Benefits
- Silica and Silica Dimethyl Silylate absorb sebum at the root and create grip between strands, which is what produces instant volume on fine or flat-lying hair
- The matte effect comes from Mica, Titanium Dioxide and Methicone, so roots look dry and dense instead of greasy — useful on a second- or third-day head
- Silica Dimethyl Silylate is hydrophobic, which helps the lift survive humidity better than a water-based mousse
- Magnesium Stearate keeps the powder free-flowing and helps it slip between hairs rather than clumping into white patches
- Dimethicone gives a small amount of conditioning feel so the texture is not harsh to the touch
- Tocopheryl Acetate (vitamin E) is included as an antioxidant
- No water and no alcohol, so the finish is dry to the touch and reworkable with the fingers through the day, and nothing evaporates out of the pack
- Also usable as a texturiser before an updo, where the added friction is what makes pins and braids hold
When to Use
Daytime styling, on completely dry hair, as the last step — after any heat or cream product and after the hair is in roughly the right shape. It is for fine, soft, limp or flat hair, for roots that collapse a few hours after a blow-dry, for men's short cuts that need separation, and as a between-wash refresher on slightly oily roots. It also does a job as a grip aid before a braid, bun or updo. Do not use it on wet or damp hair, where it clumps, and skip it on a genuinely dry or flaky scalp that does not need further oil absorption.
How to Use
- Start with dry, styled hair.
- Hold the shaker roughly 10–15cm from the head, away from the face, and tap out a very small amount — a light dusting, not a layer. Do not squeeze a cloud into the air.
- Work at the roots and along the parting, one section at a time.
- Massage in with the fingertips while lifting the hair upward; the friction is what creates the volume.
- Build up gradually if more lift is needed. Too much at once leaves a visible white cast, especially on dark hair.
- Brush or shampoo out at the end of the day.
Key Ingredients
- Silica — oil-absorbing, volumising mineral particle, the main active
- Silica Dimethyl Silylate — hydrophobically modified silica for texture and humidity resistance
- Mica — mineral filler that diffuses light for the matte look
- Dimethicone — conditioning silicone, softens the powder's feel
- Magnesium Stearate — anti-caking and flow agent
- Methicone — silicone surface treatment on the powder particles
- Titanium Dioxide — white mineral pigment, opacifier
- Caprylyl Glycol — multifunctional preservative booster and conditioning agent
- Tocopheryl Acetate — vitamin E antioxidant
Precautions
Inhalation is the real hazard with this product. It is a loose free-flowing powder of fine mineral particles — Silica, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Mica, Magnesium Stearate and Titanium Dioxide — and inhaling airborne powder can irritate the nose, throat and airways. Do not shake it vigorously or puff it into the air, do not apply it near the face or directly into a breathing zone, keep the head turned away while dispensing, and avoid using it in a small unventilated bathroom. It is not for use on or by children, who are far more likely to inhale a cloud of it, and it must be kept out of their reach; get medical advice if powder is inhaled in quantity or swallowed. Anyone with asthma or another respiratory condition should be cautious, and salon staff applying it repeatedly through a working day should ventilate the area. Keep it out of the eyes, where the particles are abrasive; if powder gets in, rinse immediately with plenty of water and do not rub, and see a doctor if irritation continues. Do not apply to broken, inflamed or sunburned scalp skin. Discontinue use if redness, swelling or itching develops and consult a dermatologist if it does not settle; patch test on the inner forearm first if the customer's skin is reactive. Because it absorbs sebum, daily use on an already dry or flaking scalp can make things worse — wash it out properly at the end of the day rather than layering it over itself, and note that silica build-up on hair may need a clarifying shampoo to fully remove. Titanium Dioxide makes it visible on dark hair if over-applied. No sun-sensitivity precaution is needed; there are no acids, retinoids or vitamin C actives in this formula. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture, and keep the lid closed so the powder does not cake.
