Layering serums is a core concept in Korean skincare. When done correctly, it improves absorption and maximizes benefits without overwhelming the skin.
Why serum layering works
Korean skincare uses thin-to-thick layering to allow active ingredients to absorb properly while maintaining hydration.
Correct order for layering serums
-
Water-based hydrating serums
-
Treatment serums
-
Barrier-support serums
Always apply from the lightest texture to the thickest.
How many serums should you use
For most skin types, one to two serums are enough. Advanced routines can include up to three, but only if the skin tolerates them well.
Mistakes to avoid
-
Mixing incompatible actives
-
Applying too quickly without absorption
-
Using too many exfoliating ingredients
